THE MPHIL PROGRAMME: Existing theories and practices of development have failed to fully address the lived experiences and the livelihoods-health-education-governance related predicaments of a large segment of the Indian rural poor. The MPhil in Development Practice (co-hosted by AUD and PRADAN) through an examination of the unexamined 'underdevelopment of the rural' and the equally unexamined 'royal road to Development', and the setting up of a relationship with the rural through a eight-month long immersion-based-learning in rural contexts wishes to create a cohort of Development Sector Professional who would have the capacity to initiate transformative social action in rural India. This new professional, marked by a transformation of self and trained in rural development/ transformational skills is needed to fulfill the grassroots version of the Indian developmental dream.
This is supported by the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT). ELIGIBILITY: Masters with 55% in the Social Sciences, Humanities and Natural Sciences or professional degrees like law, agriculture, engineering and medicine with 5% relaxation for SC/ST/PD candidates.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE: Hard copy of the applications must be sent by post/ in person. Applications should be accompanied by Demand Draft made in favour of ‘Ambedkar University, Delhi’. Application Fee for General candidates in Rs. 300/- and for SC/ST/PD candidates is Rs. 150/-. Admissions would be offered based on the results of Selection Test comprising of Written tests, Group Discussion & Interview.
SEATS: 25 (10 seats to be filled as per Reservation Policy of the Govt. of NCT of Delhi; 13 seats open to candidates from all over India and subject to Reservation Policy of the Govt. of India; 2 seats open to candidates from outside India).
