Varnica Arora

Varnica Arora is a doctoral student in the Critical Social Personality Psychology at The Graduate Center, The City University of New York and an Adjunct Faculty at the Department of Psychology, City College of New York. Prior to pursuing a doctoral degree, Varnica worked with PRADAN in West Bengal and Chhatisgarh from 2010-2018. At PRADAN, Varnica was involved with organizing women Self Help Groups to address issues of economic development, governance and Gender Justice in Purulia and Kanker district. At present Varnica's research interests include understanding how women centered programming is impacting men in their various positionalities within indigenous communities; examining the impact of educational disparities in the US. Varnica has a Masters and Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Delhi.

PRADAN ’ seeks is to build vibrant institutions for women, led by women which will, in the long run, evolve into an effective demand system. Women will lead institutions that sustain livelihoods, strengthen programmes, influence local government to leverage finances, make local authorities more responsive to the community and, in time, become pressure groups for demanding rights, entitlements and state accountability on many fronts.
