Stock Market Highlights, July 16: Sensex ends flat, Nifty settles above 24600; FMCG, Realty top gainers
Share Market Live Updates: Equity benchmark indices maintained their winning momentum for the third straight session on Tuesday, with the Sensex and Nifty hitting their new all-time peaks, amid foreign fund inflows and a rally in the US markets. The 30-share BSE Sensex hit a fresh record high of 80,898.30 in late morning trade. It closed at 80,716.55, up 51.69 points or 0.06 per cent. The NSE Nifty opened on a positive note and hit a new all-time peak of 24,661.25. After positive start, the index consolidated during the day to close marginally in the green, up 26.30 points or 0.11 per cent at 24,613. On the sectoral front, the Nifty Bank index that tracks the banking sector comprising of 12 banking stocks, dropped 59.10 points or 0.11 per cent to close at 52,396.80. From the broader market, the Nifty Midcap 100 index closed flat while Smallcap 100 added a meager 0.08 per cent.
