Reaching out to the Forest Fringed Dwellers in the time of COVID-19

COVID-19 has largely affected the metropolitan and the urban areas. But because of the lockdown the Primitive tribal groups and other tribal families living in the deep forest fringed areas in Gopikander block of Dumka district. could also not be spared. These tribals who were dependent on forest for their livelihoods are restricted to their premises because of the country wide lockdown. Pushpa Soren, the Mukhiya of Ormo panchayat, also the SHG member sought the support of the PRADAN team to support the people in her interior Panchayat. With the support from PRADAN and the block administration, she reached out to 1200 families in the panchayat. Ration kits were provided to the most vulnerable families like single women, old age, differently abled and daily wage earners and destitutes. PPE kit was provided to the community volunteers who were leading the awareness drive in these remote villages.
