Mahasweta Benerjee

Mahasweta, a graduate of Peace and Conflict Studies turned development practitioner, has been working with the marginalised communities of Central Indian Plateau Region, West Bengal since 2020. Her journey has begun with SHG's, their strengthening, and a focus on regenerative agriculture. She is currently based at Bangla, West Bengal and working as Executive in an Indian Non-Profit organisation called Professional Assistance for Development Action (PRADAN). Her interest areas also include institution building, oral history documentation, qualitative research and gender.

International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples: August 09, 2022

Every year, August 9 is commemorated as the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. The day is celebrated to recognize the inheritance of the indigenous communities, the impact of colonialism on them, and acknowledge the culture and contributions of these communities.
