Sulachana, a lac farmer from Jashipur, had only one host tree to rear the insects that produce a resin used for dye. To protect her colonies of mature females with eggs, she leased two more trees and moved 22 kilograms of these broods to fresh twigs, helping them to safely deliver their nymphs. With a grand harvest weighing 143 kilograms, Sulachana set a new example in lac rearing.
